Travel to Cambodia is a special experience, as it is home to some of the oldest monuments in the world, monuments that have survived through different phases of history, but that also tell the tale of the rise and fall of the empires that created them! The bruises from the long history stand out in all the beauty-like the replaced heads of figures in the beautiful stone temples of Cambodia, that were destroyed by the Khmer Rouge, and so does the power of nature over human endeavours! The Ta Prohm (or the ‘Tomb Raider’ temple) crumbling under the massive roots, is just one of the dramatic and unreal sights to be seen in this place brimming with culture and history. However frequent turmoil and terror unleashed by Khmer Rouge has put this beautiful country years behind in growth and prosperity. Mindfulness from travelers can help the country preserve its heritage and end poverty.
